Our Client is a leading, international multidisciplinary consultancy for the built environment, specialising in building design and operation and environmental and sustainability consulting. Having successfully traded for more than 40 years and with a portfolio of work that includes some of the most prestigious projects in the hottest construction markets, they are currently seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their team and be based at the Manchester office.

Location: Manchester (City Centre)

Salary:  £55,000 to £60,000 (depending on the experience)

Employment type: Permanent

Purpose of the Role: 

The main purpose of this role would be to deliver projects on time and to the highest technical standard, along with management support with an established MEP team. You will be working within a multi-disciplined group, assisting the senior engineers, helping and encouraging the graduate members, and having the initiative to work alone. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring project quality control to ensure the company quality standards are being achieved, preparing calculations and drawings, and ensuring they comply with the client's brief. The company has a long tradition of successfully delivering commercial, residential, retail, sports & leisure, education, hotels and hospitality, and arts, cultural & heritage projects across the UK and Internationally.

As a Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer:

  • You'll need to have a strong background in commercial (new build, refurbishments, and fit-out), residential and mixed-use developments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Services Engineering Systems, including their performance, application, and operation.
  • Holding responsibility for requirements gathering, designing electrical systems, load calculations, equipment selection, project management and coordination.
  • A degree in Electrical Design or a relevant field is required, and being Chartered would be a benefit.
  • Proficiency in electrical calculation software packages (Amtech, Dialux, Relux) and AutoCAD.
  • Experience of working in a UK design consultancy and/or a contractor design environment for a minimum of 5 years is essential.
